Last year we got together a new FCCNS fund raising committee and as the chair I am very pleased with our progress. Linda Lefler and Wenche Gausdal have joined me and together we had a great success of selling 50/50 tickets at the last Chinese New Year celebration for craft supplies at our Saturday Chinese Cultural School. But our biggest success came this May when everybody helped out to make our first fund raising yard sale a big success. Because of the devastation the earthquake has caused in Sichuan province, we had decided that the funds raised would be send to benefit the orphans affected by it.

Through the generous donation of items from our membership and members-to-be and the help of volunteers we raised $1,680.68. We are also very pleased that the FCCNS Executive Committee decided to match our success, so that we were able to send a cheque of $3361.36 to Half the Sky's Children's Earthquake Fund. A big thank you to everybody involved.
